I’ve decided that since I have got back into the ways of jewellery making, that I would keep a blog, not only to keep track of what I am doing and how I am progressing in something that I feel I am forever learning in, but to also post reviews of items I have bought and am currently using. I’ll also list sites I find interesting or that I use a lot to purchase items.
In this blog you’ll mainly see me using sterling silver, but I will also use base metals to make items along with gemstones in various incarnations. I love working with gemstones, so please if you have a good supplier of gemstones, let me know!
I fell out of making jewellery for a while and had been thinking of returning to the silversmithing class I had taken for a short period in my early twenties, when an advert for Craftsy popped up on Facebook for Micro Torch Basics by instructor Kate Richbourg. I decided to join the website and join the class (from memory the class was free) which just confirmed to myself that I should be back at class doing silversmithing.
Craftsy has also been a great source on inspiration, it allows other users to post images of the items they have been making in relation to the class they have enrolled in, it has also introduced me to a great jewellery maker who’s work I admire and am not ashamed to say I have bought her jewellery kits to make her items as I like them so much, but I will give you a better insight into this designer in another post.
My page will change, I am just in the middle of setting it up at the moment and I will share images of the items that I am currently in the process of making and of course the items I have finished. Along the way when giving reviews, especially of tools I will include as may images as possible to show how good or not so good the item is.
